Groton Water Department |

|
The amount of total cubic feet consumed is calculated by subtracting your past meter reading from your current meter reading (example numbers used). 484800 - 481200 = 3,600 cubic feet of water consumed. Remove the last two digits from your cubic feet consumed to convert to units consumed. 3,600 cubic feet would equal 36 Units.
If you only have town water you will only need the Water Rate Table, however if you are on town sewer you will need to use both tables below. |

How to calculate your water and sewer bill—example |
|
If you used: 36 Units
The first: 0 to 20 Units you use are billed at $3.60 per unit. $3.60 X 20 units = $72.00
The next: 21 to 40 Units you use are billed at $4.13 per unit. $4.13 X 16 units = $66.08
Units used: Over 40 are billed at $4.74 per Unit.
Totaling the cost of water used: $72.00 + $66.08 = $138.08
Finally a $10.00 service charge is added to the cost of your water. This covers the cost of collecting and processing data on your bill. Total water only bill = $148.08 |
|
If you used: 36 Units
The first: 0 to 15 Units you use are billed at $11.44 per unit. $11.44 X 15 units = $171.60
The next: 16 to 30 Units you use are billed at $13.33 per unit. $13.33 X 15 units = $199.95
Units used: Over 30 are billed at $14.66 per Unit $14.66 X 6 units = $87.96
Totaling the cost of sewer only used: $171.60 + $199.95 + $87.96 = $459.51 Total sewer only bill = $459.51
The total water and sewer bill is then calculated by adding your water only bill to your sewer only bill. $148.08 + $459.51 = $607.59
Total water and sewer bill = $607.59 |
